This Privacy Statement explains how Zorba Editing processes personal data about people we come into contact with (referred to in this Privacy Statement as “you”) as part of Zorba Editing’s work with clients and other relevant persons. These include contact persons at universities, research organizations, galleries and publishers, authors, chief editors, editors, curators, researchers, and academics.

Zorba Editing (www.zorbaediting.com) is a sub-unit of Zorba Media (www.zorbamedia.com) focusing on all aspects of non-fiction and fiction editing. Zorba Media is a company in the USA, registered in New York State, and owned by Michael Pastor and Ann Warde.

How does Zorba Editing process your data?
We collect the following details from clients either directly or from publicly available pages online:
• Contact details (email address, phone number)
• Invoicing details (full name and address of the client)
Zorba Editing manages these details as follows:
• These details are stored on one or two personal computers, within email messages and in files and folders dedicated to projects of individual clients.
• These details are stored on the internal hard drives of these computers, on up to two external hard drives, and on CrashPlan (https://www.crashplan.com) secure cloud archive accounts belonging to Michael Pastor and Ann Warde.

• Client details are periodically reviewed, and details of clients or persons that are no longer active are deleted. “Active” in this context means Zorba Editing has interacted with the client within the last 7 years.
• In addition, Zorba Editing may publish the details of your project on the Zorba Editing website at www.zorbaediting.com, as a means of demonstrating the kinds of projects undertaken by Zorba Editing, as well as Zorba Editing’s editing expertise and experience. We always confer with clients to obtain their approval before posting any project information. Also, these posts are only made public after the project itself is public on another website (e.g., the university website, a publisher’s website, or on Amazon or other venues).
Why does Zorba Editing hold this data?
Zorba Editing holds this information:
• To facilitate the provision of a range of professional editing and proofreading services that form the primary basis of Zorba Editing’s business.
• To manage and maintain complete records for taxation purposes.
• To assist in responding to complaints or incidents relating to the services provided by Zorba Editing, and to facilitate feedback for improving Zorba Editing’s services.
Sharing your data
Zorba Editing does not pass your information in any form to third parties without your consent.
How long does Zorba Editing keep your data?
Zorba Editing will keep your data for up to 7 years unless you expressly wish us to remove it from the database.
Your rights in relation to the data we hold
You have full rights over your data held by us. By contacting Michael Pastor or Ann Warde at the details above you may request the following at any time:
• That your data be removed and completely erased from the database
• That your data be updated or corrected
• That your data no longer be stored in the cloud but only on a single stand-alone computer or storage device
• That we send you a copy of all the data we have that relates to you
